Jill Kolb is a potter who lives in Jacksonville Beach. Jill graduated from the University of Florida with a BFA in Fine Arts. In college, she specialized in all forms of pottery, but with a focus on porcelain and its translucent qualities.

Life has a way of changing the best laid plans and, after staying home to raise her children and continue producing pottery on a small scale, Jill entered the world of education. Working with children with special needs and later as an academic coach, Jill taught for 25 years, both in Florida and Massachusetts. After retiring from teaching in 2017, Jill returned to her first love; pottery!

For the majority of Jill’s adult life, she has lived within a half mile of the ocean. The themes in her work reflect her connection to both the sea and the creatures who makes their homes there. Still working in porcelain, she translates her understanding of sea life into decorative and functional pieces of art. Most of Jill’s work is formed by throwing on a potter's wheel. Her forms tend to follow classic lines with either painted or sculptural additions. Recently Jill has been exploring using texture in her hand built trays, bowls, and mugs. The glazes she selects are designed to enhance both the form and the design. This also benefits the translucent nature of her porcelain, allowing it to glow when in direct light.
